The REVV Dirtdog is an expressive, amp-like overdrive developed with Joey Landreth to capture the feel and tone of the small, quirky vintage amp he built for the Dog Ear album. Instead of sounding like a pedal placed in front of your amp, the Dirtdog reacts and breathes like an old pushed combo, delivering rich harmonics, touch sensitivity and a three-dimensional midrange.
At lower Gain settings, the Dirtdog provides chimey edge-of-breakup with articulate note separation and a natural bloom. As you increase Gain and Level, it evolves into thicker, more saturated drive that remains musical and responsive rather than compressed or brittle. The pedal cleans up beautifully with your guitar’s volume knob, making it equally useful for subtle grit or full-bodied lead tones.
The Bite control shapes the high-end response, while the Tone control broadly shifts the midrange voice from punchy and snarling to smoother and slightly scooped. These controls are highly interactive with Gain and Level, allowing you to tailor how the Dirtdog pushes your amp and how it sits in a mix. Whether you are sweetening a clean platform or driving an already cooking amp, the Dirtdog adds vintage character without losing clarity.
